Frida produced a lot of still life paintings, most of them in her last years. With the title of this one, she may be expressing how she is enjoying life whenever her poor health would allow her to do so. The background of this painting is not the rugged and arid land she depicted in many of her other paintings, but a smooth soothing blue. The fruits are not painted dramatically opened and looking like wounds as in many of her other paintings. The painting transmits a sensation of peace and contentment.
The inscription on
the banner at the top reads: "When I have you life, how much I
love you - Frida Kahlo 1938". It's unknown why Frida did
not inscribe the scroll at the bottom.

Frida produjo un montón de naturalezas muertas, muchas de ellas en los últimos años de su carrera. Con el título de éste, Frida podría estar expresando cuanto disfrutaba de la vida siempre que su mala salud se lo permitía. El fondo de su pintura no es el típico árido y rugoso paisaje que ella pintó en muchos de sus otros cuadros sino que es de un relajante color azul. Las frutas no están pintadas dramáticamente abiertas y pareciendo heridas como en muchos de sus otros cuadros. El cuadro transmite una sensación de paz y felicidad.
